At Sea

16th March 2012

This morning we are close to the coast of Kalimantan, with many islands and fisherman on either side of the ship as we head up the coast. There are an increasing number of oil rigs visible on the port side. The weather is overcast, and warm and humid.

After our morning walk and breakfast we went to a lecture on Buddhism, I don’t think I will hurry back to this series of lectures.

Carole headed off to Mahjong at 1pm, and had a Spa appointment following that.

Today we cross the Equator, so there is much organization and excitement on deck as they prepare for the arrival of King Neptune at 3pm for the crossing ceremony. The surrounds of the pool deck was packed to experience  the official blessing being given by King Neptune to allow the crossing. The whole ceremony was a lot of fun, and resulted in a number of passengers and crew being covered in all manner of things from the kitchen as part of the ceremony.

We continued in view of the coastline, and passing through islands for most of the day.
Later in the evening, we experienced a few thunderstorms which continued well into the morning.
We have another day at sea tomorrow before arriving at Kota Kinabalu the following morning.

Animal of the day.

Onboard internet is very unreliable so I am not sure when this will actually be posted
