At Sea

15th March 2012

The sail overnight was through very strong winds, which have continued during today, resulting in the top deck being closed to passengers, but the Promenade deck was still open for our morning walk.
It is overcast, still warm and humid, and the seas have been whipped up a bit by the wind, but it is not uncomfortable. During our walk we spotted and oil rig being towed by 2 tugs off our port side. They were heading in the same directions as us, straight into the wind and didn’t appear to be making a lot of headway.

We went to a destination lecture on Kota Kinabalu at 10.45am, which as usual was very informative.
By 12 noon our position was in the Java Sea, 25nm east of the Indonesian Island of Bawean, heading northwest.

Carole went off to mahjong at 1pm, and we met up at 3pm, at Bingo, as we wanted to see the movie that followed the Bingo, and to get a decent seat, you need to attend the bingo as they mostly stay on for the movie. Needless to say, we won nothing at the Bingo, but had a good laugh at the proceedings, and to our dismay, the movie was moved to another theatre !!! Fortunately we weren’t the only ones who had gone to the bingo to get a good movie seat.
Anyway, having had our bingo experience, we went off to the Princess Theatre, and saw a movie called “50/50”, which we enjoyed.  I think I have already seen more movies on this trip than I had in the last 12 mths.

We arrived back at our room to see the that the steward hasn’t run out of animal designs yet, and opted to just go and have a pizza for dinner, rather than go to the traditional dining.
