2nd April 2012
The weather is more hospitable today, with a reasonable breeze from the
north, and relatively flat seas.
Since leaving Yokohama, we have
been on a Southerly course heading down past a chain of Japanese Islands
towards Guam. At noon, we were in the Pacific Ocean, with the Japanese Island
of Tori Shima 27nm off our starboard bow, in 2,500m of water.
Before lunch, we went to a destination lecture on Guam, our next port
stop, and have decided to do our own thing there.
Tomorrow we are pausing in our passage south to do a sail around Iwo
Jima.
Before dinner, we were invited to a function hosted by the captain for
passengers who had sailed with Princess Cruises before. There were free drinks
and finger food, and recognition of the most travelled cruisers. We felt quite
inadequate when the award for the couple on this cruise that had travelled the
most with Princess Cruises had chalked up a touch over 1500 days of cruising
with Princess !!!
